Visit to Durham Cathedral

Arrangements have been made for a visit to Durham Cathedral on Saturday 11th September for all in the congregation who may be interested. It will be a full ‘day out’. .

Dunfermline Abbey was constructed immediately following the building of Durham. The same team were employed on both. Naturally, there are a lot of similarities.

• The date of the visit is Saturday 11th September.
• Travel will be by luxury coach, (yes, it has a toilet!), probably departing from the Abbey around 8 a.m.
• Coffee stop at Jedburgh on the way south.
• Arrival at Durham where there will be a guided tour of the Cathedral.
• Lunch can be purchased in the Cathedral restaurant.
• There will be some time for shopping or a look round the centre of Durham. The Cathedral is very central.
• Return will be via Wooler and Coldstream, stopping for high tea at Carfraemill.
• Back to Dunfermline around 8 p.m.

The cost of the outing is likely to be around £30 depending on the numbers going - maximum is fifty. This includes coach, guided tour and high tea. You will have to pay for your own morning coffee on the way south and your lunch in Durham Cathedral Restaurant where there is a wide choice available.

If you would like to take part in this congregational outing, please email, or drop me a note into the mail box in the south porch. An early reply would really be appreciated, so that we can be sure it’s viable.
